All, Here's an update on my 7081 that hangs during boot up with all the LED staying lit. Joe Trantham has been kind enough to check the programming of my current five 2564 ROM's and the programming looks complete as compared to David Partridge's bin files. So we don't have a lot of confidence that changing out the ROM's with new ones will fix the booting problem. Before Joe ships the ROM's back to me we thought we ask the group more about the ROM's used in with the different S/N My IC803 is a Fujitsu MBM2764-30 ROM which corresponds to the later serial number of my unit, S/N 001159. The product status chart on the back of the meter shows 1 through 12 crossed off. 13-24 is not crossed of on the chart. When I received the unit off ebay I found that 3 of the RAM chips were in backwards and all the ROM's IC412-415, IC430 were in the wrong sockets, albeit oriented correctly. Joe suggested maybe somebody harvested the original 2764 ROM's and threw back in some 2564's from an earlier unit. The reason for suspecting this is because my 2564's are labelled CC which indicates an early firmware version. Possibly earlier than my serial number. Joe's own 7081, S/N 000660, has five 2764's marked DC firmware. Is it possible my S/N 001159 should have has 2764 ROM's on the Earthy Processor board? Does anyone know how to correspond the S/N ranges with the original ROM's that were used? When did the change over to 2764's take place? I would imagine that due to the different pin outs between 2564 and 2764's that the board has to be slightly different. But the schematics don't show how they accommodated the differences and is showing only the five 2564 on the Earthy Processor board. The parts list does show an asterisk stating that later S/N used 2764 ROM's on the Floating Logic board which mine does have a single 2764 in that socket. The schematic shows split pads were used to rewire different RAM chips, but I don't see any indication where split pads are being used for the two different ROM's types. There is a downloadable high quality scan of the Service Manual which I produced a while ago, that you can download from here: <https://groups.io/g/Solartron_Schlumberger_Equipment/files/Solartron%207071 %20and%207081> It has the schematics for both the early (7504) and late (7514) earthy processor boards, and contains numerous corrections to the text and parts lists. The schematics have been cleaned up and corrected where necessary. You can tell which ROMS the earthy processor uses based on the board number: Board 70817504 uses 2564s while 70817514 uses 2764s. If you use the wrong ROMs - it won't work! The Test Spec document is also of interest. Rick, I have two 7081’s with the relevant configuration as follows: S\N 1395 with board 70817514 and 2764 ROMS S\N 415 with board 70817504 and 2564 ROMS I can also confirm that swapping ROMS between the board revisions does not work.
