Didier,
it's quite unusual to have battery stickers on the back - maybe somebody
already had replaced these.
Btw, KS would probably replace the complete board (for a fortune) by the
SnapHat version, as they don't replace the DALLAS chips any more.
As you have the old board, yes, only the 2kB / small DALLAS nvSRAM
contains the calibration data, the 2x 32kB contains setup / STATE,
procedures, BASIC programs, and alike, so their content does not have to
be restored. Only if you have programmed something, like the short cut
keys F1 .. F9, you would have to re-program that afterwards, but
directly over the GPIB.
The 4 empty sockets are for 4x32kB volatile RAMs (62256 type) which
stores / buffers measurement data, that's not intended for additional
firmware.
KS demands about 500$ for an upgrade, and 30 years ago, on my first
3458A, I already upgraded this option 01 for a few bucks (about 4 x 5$/€
today).
You should also update the firmware to the latest version 8.1 or 9.1, as
older versions have several bugs.
Therefore, check the EPROM(s), if you have six 64kB of them, or only
one 512kB.
For both versions, FW images are available.

Dr.Frank KS also have newer A5 board now with normal SRAM and coin lithium cell. You can find photo of it on KS parts store site.

Frank,
The sticker was from the cal lab, as a reminder I guess. I have firmware
9.2 (from the calram download software) but you said the latest is 9.1?
I forgot to take a picture of the EPROM chips' labels inside the unit and I
closed it back up now... There were six chips.
I may put the RAM chips just because, since I will have the board out and
there are sockets already.
It looks like the unit was indeed manufactured in 2009 and the NV-RAM chips
are OEM, so it is fairly recent.
