Fellow time-nuts,
This afternoon my EFOS B hydrogen maser has arrived and been set up. We
just need to wait for it to lock up, which may take about a week. I can
report a lot more on it, as I have a huge stack of documents. Hydrogren
diassociator already gives that nice pink glow. Its been refurbished and
measured, so it goes to 3E-15 at least, should reach 2E-15, with out
trouble. It is a huge beast, so it took quite some effort to get the 250
kg heavy beast of the van, and in the house. Now we have enjoyed dinner
and good drinks. I will do a bit of more cleanup before I meet my final
destination for the evening, but it all looks good so far.
I have 5 MHz, 180 MHz and 1440 MHz outputs to play with.
So, I have now transitioned from OCXO, to Rubidium, to Cesium and to
Hydrogren maser.
So, this is why I think in terms of phase microstepper.
Cheers,
Magnus

Next you'll need to read up on this:

Magnus,
I hope you'll be keeping a record of frequency drift of your EFOS B over
time
(not necessarily counting the settling-in period) and making this public.
I'd like
to compare the numbers with what I remember for the MHM-2010 at Arecibo,
which amounted to slowing down by roughly 1E-13 per year.

Dana,
First up is getting logging of internal state. Then I get to setting up
of GPS measurements.
Environmentally this is not as ideal location as one would want, but I
will monitor the ambient temperature as soon as I have logging. I think
I have a few other things to log eventually, so it will be interesting
to see, but it is when these things is allowed to shift around one sees
their effect.
Exactly how I make things available is yet to be figured out, but I will
keep you guys informed and updated at least.
Cheers,
Magnus

That certainly moves you up the scale of Time-Nuttery..
And OCXOs are the Gateway drug.
What a lucky find! Old but works and refurbished! Congratulations.
