Battery pack info for Fluke 731B

I bought a Fluke 731B DC Reference Standard at a hamfest yesterday.  It
seems to be working in all functions, but is missing the 10-turn indicating
dial on the front panel, and the battery pack.  I think I have found a
suitable replacement dial from Digikey (Digikey pn SP015-1-11-ND).
I need to know the voltage and current rating of the battery pack. Does
anyone have any info on the battery?  I know that it's a NiCd pack, and I
suspect that it's a 12-cell pack (14.4V), but that's just a guess.  The
manual just gives Fluke's part number for the battery; no other data.

Thanks for helping,
David

David,

The battery pack is made up of 12 cells that are 2/3 A cells.  Energy Sales
in
Redmond, WA, made the pack for Fluke and can still make up a pack (minimum
charge is $100 for 1 pack) but I gave up at the thought of $100.  However, I
never asked how much for 2 or 3 packs.

The currently available pack (made up special when you order) uses
'upgraded' 600 mAH batteries and they are NiCd.  Therefore, I suspect the
original battery pack was something less than 600 mAH.

I have two of the 731B's and made up a replacement battery pack out of 12
AAA NiCd cells in 3 Radio Shack 4 cell battery holders that I taped to the
bracket that holds the battery pack.  It seems to work great for my two.

The website for Energy Sales is:

http://www.energy-sales.com/

The part number for the pack is ES-1122.  If you are inclined to order 'the
original' battery pack, we could inquire what price for 3 or 4 packs and
perhaps get a better price.

Hope this helps.

Joe

http://www.pa4tim.nl/?p=2376 pictures of mine including the battery pack. It had two sets of 9 nicads parallel. I first replaced it by a voltage regulator but that was no succes. Now I have two nicd 7.2V packs in series from a RC car connected. And the rest original. They did not fit inside so I made a connector to attach them outside the unit. Also made a DC connection so I can feed it from a labsupply, that improves stability. So i found out the output is changed by the input, so I think my regulating opamp is not so fresh anymore.

David,

Forgot to add, the dial looks correct but I do not know for sure if it is.

Also, I have a picture of an 'original' battery pack if you would like to
see it.
