GPS for Nixie Clock

No, not really.  I would get one of these...  1/3 the price, comes with antenna.    A timing receiver is way overkill for a clock.  USB is a pain for microcontrollers to work with.  Get it working with with the 8M,  upgrade later to the M8T if you feel the need.

The USB is just for fooling around out side of the clock, getting
familiar with what it can do.

The FPGA can handle the serial port interface just fine.

BTW the original has cheap slow microcontroller (don't even remember
what it is now) I'm replacing it with a modern Altera MAX-10 FPGA for
the upgrade.
