Hi, I want to turn off the display for some time as I was told is good to leave the unit on for like 2 months prior to send for calibration. I just bought a 3458A used is an Agilent branded with serial MY45044988
So can I use a GPIB to USB to connect to a PC and then what should I do.
Thank you.

It's also handy to add a DEFKEY command string to clear the display. The
following will guarantee a completely blank display while setting idle.

DEFKEY n    (n = 0 through 9)
"RESET;TRIG SGL;DISP MSG,,"    (the "DISP MSG,," is undocumented)

The RESET and TRIG SGL are included so the small status and sample
indicators remain off.

Use the blue key + close function then up / down arrow to select the RESET
TRIG & DISP functions.
After TRIG use the down arrow to select SGL
After DISP use the down arrow to select MSG

Refer to DEFKEY command in the user's manual or quick reference card for
more help.

Regards,
Don
